10 Characters Emilia Clarke Could Be Playing In Secret Invasion (Including Queen Veranke)
Emilia Clarke was recently cast in an as-yet unrevealed role in Secret Invasion. Which Marvel comics characters could she be playing?

Secret Invasion is shaping up to be a major series in the MCU in the near future, with reports that Game Of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke is joining the already excellent cast. Many established MCU characters could appear in the upcoming series, but Clarke is likely to be playing a new one. She could be a number of characters from Marvel Comics.
The 2008 Secret Invasion event from the comics touched every corner of the Marvel superhero universe, meaning that Emilia Clarke could be a number of prominent characters, including those that fans have seen on screen before, though they haven't seen them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet.
10 Abigail Brand

With the introduction of S.W.O.R.D. in WandaVision, the MCU has set up one of its most prominent comic book members. Abigail Brand has been the director of S.W.O.R.D. since her introduction in the early 2000s in the pages of Astonishing X-Men.
With the organization now a part of the MCU and seeming to have a big future in the cosmic part of the franchise, it only makes sense that she will appear at some point. Given her high profile, she makes a lot of sense for Emilia Clarke to play.
9 Anelle

A minor but important character Emilia Clarke could be playing is Princess Anelle. Anelle is Skrull royalty and the heir to the Skrull Empire. She angers her father Dorekk by falling in love with the enemy. She becomes involved with a Kree man, and both later suffer for following their hearts.
She gives birth to a child, who will grow up to become Hulking, one of the founding members of the Young Avengers, a team the MCU could be building to with many other characters. He also became the ruler of the combined Skrull-Kree Empire.
8 Medusa

One of the major targets of the Skrulls in the comic books is the Inhumans. The Skrulls attempt to take out the major players of the Marvel Universe in one swift strike.
Medusa is the wife of the Inhuman leader, Black Bolt, who is revealed to be a Skrull in disguise. Her efforts to defend Attilan and hold her people together during the shocking and violent siege could be very good fodder for Emilia Clarke. Medusa did appear in the brief Inhumans series on ABC, but it wasn't directly connected to the MCU.
7 Moonstone

Moonstone is a relatively minor character in the Secret Invasion comic book, but she's a character with important ties to other MCU characters and current events, making her very possible to appear. Karla Sofen obtained superpowers from a Kree weapon known as a gravity stone. She defends Thunderbolt Mountain during the Skrull Invasion.
The Thunderbolts are the supervillain team led by Baron Zemo and could be in the near-future of the MCU given what Baron Zemo has put to in Falcon And The Winter Soldier. She herself impersonated Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel, making her a possible villain who could appear in Captain Marvel 2.
6 Invisible Woman

The Skrulls launch a massive, worldwide coordinated attack against major Marvel Comics targets in the comic book storyline, including the Baxter Building. If this plays out the same in the streaming series, then the character Clarke could be playing is Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. She certainly looks the part.
A lot of speculation centered on Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic, appearing in WandaVision, which ultimately came to nothing. But the Fantastic Four are definitely coming, and Secret Invasion could be a game-changing way to debut this major character in the MCU.
5 The White Queen

An unexpected character Clarke could be playing in the series is Emma Frost, the White Queen. This former villain of the X-Men and current integral member of the Krakoan Quiet Council is one of the many characters impersonated by the Skrulls in the comic book storyline.
She is later revealed to be gaming the cataclysmic invasion for her own benefit, as is usually the case. Depending on how the MCU wants to unveil the X-Men, Secret Invasion could be a left-field choice to introduce this important character.
4 Spider-Woman

A major figure from Secret Invasion that Emilia Clarke could be playing is Spider-Woman. One of the biggest shocks of the event is the revelation that Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman and a member of the Avengers, is in fact a Skrull (and their leader, Veranke, in disguise).
As Spider-Woman, she played a role in the formation of the New Avengers team, one of the best Avengers teams. Spider-Woman has been rumored to appear in the MCU, particularly as the subject of a movie slated to be directed by Olivia Wilde, and the streaming series could be a way of introducing her in a unique way.
3 Lyja

Emilia Clarke may not be playing a major character, but one with a long and intriguing future. She could be playing the Skrull Lyja, who had impersonated Alicia Masters, the girlfriend and later wife of Ben Grimm, The Thing, in the comics. She impersonated Alicia for several years back in the late 80s and early 90s without anyone knowing.
Her romance with Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, is one of the stranger Fantastic Four romances given the circumstances. Lyja didn't play a role in Secret Invasion, but the MCU series could be a way to introduce her and her ultimate storyline into the franchise ahead of the Fantastic Four.
2 Super Skrull

Given the way the MCU has cast some characters from the comics, like The Flag-Smasher, it's possible that Clarke isn't playing a female character at all.
One major character she could be playing is the Super Skrull, one of the legendary Fantastic Four villains, and a key player in Secret Invasion. All Skrulls can shapeshift but the Super Skrull can mimic the powers of the Fantastic Four, making him one of the most formidable opponents the team ever faced. A number of Super Skrulls play big roles in the Secret Invasion comics books.
1 Veranke

Veranke is the lynchpin of the entire Secret Invasion event, and it makes sense given her importance to the story that Emilia Clarke would be playing her.
She spurs the covert Skrull invasion of Earth when she claims a prophecy foretells the planet is the new Skrull homeworld. The historical Skrull homeworld had been destroyed by Galactus in the comics. Given the Fantastic Four are coming to the MCU, this could be a way to introduce the cosmic supervillain and consequently, Veranke and her ambitions.
